Although Northwest has an "open door" admissions policy, there are procedures all students must follow in order to receive a Certificate of Admission.  The following must be on file in the Registrar's Office before registration:

  • A completed application for admissions
  • An official copy of ACT or SAT scores (ACT required for Mississippi residents)
  • An official copy of a transcript from an accredited high school that includes a graduation date; or an official copy of GED scores; or an official copy of college or military transcript(s) from all colleges attended; or if attending another college full-time and attending Northwest part-time, attending an evening class or during a summer semester, a letter of good standing from the full-time college attended.

When all required documents have been submitted, the student will be sent a Certificate of Admission. The student will present the Certificate of Admission at the registration center on the appropriate day of registration.

No transcripts can be forwarded to other institutions until all necessary admission information is recorded in the Registrar's Office.

Students should begin the application process during their senior year in high school or as soon as possible before the first college semester.  Adult students 21 years of age or older are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores unless their program of study requires a certain score for admittance.
