POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Cosmetology Instructor

Location: Senatobia campus

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years full-time work experience in cosmetology; or Associate Degree or two year certificate program and two (2) years full-time experience in cosmetology; or Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year full-time work experience in cosmetology.  Must be a licensed cosmetology instructor in the state of Mississippi.

Responsibilities:         

  • Teach students the occupational competencies necessary for employment. 
  • Prepare course competency based outlines for each instructional course or program. 
  • Prepare detailed lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory experiments for all units of instruction. 
  • Recommend changes in the total curriculum in order to maintain an up-to-date program. 
  • Develop and maintain the progress for each student in the program.  Teach related subject matter. 
  • Supervise all laboratory experience. 
  • Develop a schedule of courses for each semester. 
  • Review and select instructional materials such as textbooks and audio-visual materials. 
  • Complete requests for supplies and other instructional materials on a timely basis. 
  • Complete enrollment and follow-up reports. 
  • Assist in the development of an annual budget for the instructional program. 
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment. 
  • Recommend new and/or replacement equipment to be purchased for the program. 
  • Maintain proper inventory of all equipment and tools assigned to the program. 
  • Keep equipment functioning and in good working order by establishing an effective preventive maintenance system. 
  • Maintain an active craft committee which meets twice a year. 
  • Visit industry for the purpose of developing a good rapport with potential employees.
  • Take an active role in the advisement and counseling of students.
  • Help students find employment in an occupation related to training.
  • Fulfill the requirements of career license certification by attending specified classes and workshops.
  • Serve on various faculty committees.
  • Attend faculty meeting and workshops.
