Northwest Mississippi Community College is committed to providing an educational environment that is conducive to learning for all students. Students play a critical role in creating an environment in which learning can take place. The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to address student behavior within the college’s learning resources centers.
- The library is designated a cell phone free zone. Students should set their cell phones and beepers to vibrate while in the library. Any calls must be made or answered outside the library.
- All students must respect other people’s rights while using library resources. The library is a place for quiet study and research. Any behavior that disrupts other people is not appropriate library behavior. It must be understood by each student that his/her rights end where other students’ rights begin.
- Students must present their current student ID in order to use library computers. Due to their limited number, computers should be used for school-related work only. Computers are for individual student use and should not be used to access Web sites that are deemed inappropriate. Students who misuse library computers will be asked to leave the facility.
- No food, drink or tobacco products are allowed in the library.
- Behavior which is appropriate to the classroom is expected of all students when in the library.
- Students must conform to the Code of Student Conduct as described in the Student Guide.
The library staff has the right to ask students to conform to the above guidelines. The library staff has the right to request a student’s ID card. The library staff has the right to ask a student to leave the library if he or she does not choose to follow these guidelines. Students may be referred to the Student Affairs Office for serious infractions.
