For prospective students

QUIET POLICY

This policy provides for the control of noise in the library buildings, with the purpose of providing suitable environments for individual and group study, research, and public service activities. The policy applies to all. Cooperation with this policy acknowledges and supports the need of others for quiet.

A certain amount of noise can be expected at all public service desks where library staff are helping library users.

In other areas, staff and library users are expected to minimize their noise so as not to disturb others who may be studying nearby.

Conversations should be kept to a minimum. If talking is necessary, do it quietly.

Cellular phones should be turned off and beepers set to vibrate in the library buildings. Cellular phone conversations are restricted to areas outside the building. Use of CD players and tape players with personal headphones are not permitted in the library.

Problems should be brought to attention of library staff. Those who fail to comply with this policy may be asked to leave the library.
