Even though Northwest has an “open door” admission policy, there are procedures that all students must follow in order to receive a Certificate of Admission. No specific ACT score is required for admission unless the student’s program of study requires a certain score.
Whether you are enrolling at Northwest for the first time or returning for retraining or a second career, we want to make your college enrollment experience an easy one. If you have a question, don’t be afraid to ask!
I am attending college for the first time. How do I apply for admission?
Fill out an application for admission. Have your official high school transcript or GED scores sent to Northwest. If you are over the age of 21, the ACT is not required. A placement test will be given the day of registration.
I am a returning college student. How do I apply for admission?
Fill out an application for admission. Have your official transcripts sent from all previously attended colleges.
How do I apply for Financial Aid?
Every student needs to fill out the FAFSA form (Pell Grant). If you receive a scholarship of any type other than a Foundation Scholarship, you must file for the Pell Grant. If you receive an institutional scholarship you do not have to file the FAFSA form. To apply online, you must first obtain a PIN (Personal Identification Number) for yourself and a parent if you are under 24 years of age and not married or cannot answer yes to any question in step 3 on the FAFSA. Apply for the PIN at www.pin.ed.gov, complete the request and submit.
ONLINE FAFSA APPLICATION
The way to file a FAFSA is online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You may obtain a Pre-Application Worksheet for the FAFSA in the Financial Aid Office on campus or online at www.studentaid.ed.gov. To complete the FAFSA form, you will need last year’s income tax returns (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) along with a previous year W-2 wage earner statement from your employer(s) and your parents’ employer(s). Once you have completed your online FAFSA application, use your PIN to electronically sign the FAFSA before submitting.
What if I have additional questions?
We will gladly arrange an advising appointment for you with a faculty adviser, a representative from the Registrar’s Office, or with one of our Recruiting representatives.
